Sometimes good things arise in unexpected situations: this happened to Umberto Notarnicola and Bruno Violo, two men who, despite their traditionally legal origins in regions famous for excellent red wine, were able to give life to one of the most important wineries in the province of Rome, starting from Frascati, the historic white wine from the Castelli Romani area. Their passion for wine and for the magnificent territory of the Castelli Romani then pushed them to go beyond their Piedmontese (Bruno) and Puglia (Umberto) origins, with the creation in 1972 of a winery on the San Marco hill, which gave the company its name.

San Marco is today a dynamic company, successfully projected into the world market, with the philosophy of bringing modern style wines to all tables, in Italy and abroad, which can be, at the same time, a genuine expression of territory from which they come.
Thanks to an accurate research project and innovation, in fact, the famous Frascati wines have been joined by the Solo line, wines produced with a single variety, therefore capable of highlighting the characteristics of each vine. During its launch, the Solo line represented a great innovation in the Lazio panorama, gaining a lot of attention from experts and amateurs.

San Marco has always combined tradition and modernity through the skilful vinification of grapes harvested in particularly suitable vineyards with the most modern techniques. In 2003 San Marco was the first company in Lazio to apply the so-called “cooling technique”, which implies a controlled supply of carbon dioxide in liquid and solid states: an absolutely natural sourcee of cold which allows you to obtain wines with brighter colours, more structure and with marked aromatic notes, guaranteeing a better winemaking.
